Kim M's Personal Statement

Kim is a high school English teacher at Madera South High School. She is entering her fourth year of teaching focusing on juniors and senior to enrich the youth of Madera. Kim is currently working on her Master of Arts degree in English Literature at National University. Kim grew up in the lovely city of Coarsegold where she discovered her favorite color, purple. Her parents supported this choice and allowed the seven year old Kim to choose and place purple carpet in her bedroom. As time went on, Kim's love of purple transferred to the love of her life- Dana Minard. She and Dana have been married for a year and a half and have adopted two dogs- an anxious golden retriever, Jessie and a boxer, Sugar Ray.

When Kim isn't working or spending time with her fabulous husband, she enjoys spending time writing, blogging and knitting. Because of her voracious appetitie for knitting, she is often in front of the television. She loves to watch British television series like Luther, Masterpiece Mysteries, and Collision. She also blogs on a sporadic basis.

Kim's appetite for delicious food led her to be a wonderful baker learn to cook!. But when she met her special love, a former professional chef, she realized that she had to step-up her game. From watching him, she learned to make sauces and prepare meals that formerly were purchased in mixes and boxes. Kim's husband verifies that she is able to open the refrigerator and pantry and know what goes together to make a fine meal with his regular compliments.

If Kim could go anywhere, she would love to visit Scotland. She has many family roots that would lead her to that magnificent country. When she finishes her Master's, she will remind her mother of the promise made that they will tour the country together.
